# Overview

BlinkWrite is a context-aware writing assistant for macOS. It reads the text
around your cursor (the conversation, email thread, or document you're working
in) and helps you write with four kinds of suggestions: proactive drafts,
completions, corrections, and rephrasing.

Unlike a spell-checker that only looks at the last few words you typed,
BlinkWrite understands the full context of what you're writing: who you're
talking to, what was said before, and the tone of the channel. Suggestions
appear in a small floating popup right where you're writing, and never change
your text until you accept them with a single press of **Tab**.

## What BlinkWrite can do

- **Proactive drafts**: drafts a full reply from the conversation before you
  type anything.
- **Completions**: finishes your sentence using the thread around it.
- **Corrections**: fixes spelling, grammar, punctuation, and word choice.
- **Rephrasing**: shortens or improves your paragraph, uses a formal or friendly
  tone, or follows Custom instructions. Every mode keeps the same available context.

## Where it works

BlinkWrite works in any macOS app with a standard text field: messaging apps,
email, docs, notes, and every major browser. See [Supported apps](/docs/supported-apps)

## Requirements

- **macOS 26 or later**
- **Mac with Apple silicon**
- A BlinkWrite account (sign in with Google)
- An active subscription or free trial (see [Billing & plans](/docs/billing-and-plans))

## Private by design

BlinkWrite only reads the text it needs to help you write: the field you're in
and its surrounding context. It isn't monitoring your screen or tracking your
activity. Personal information is masked on your device before anything is sent
for a suggestion, and your text is never stored or used to train models. Read
